Dyson’s coolest launch yet, and we’re a fan.

How Olivia Jenkins Built D. Louise to Disrupt the Jewellery Space

Building a jewellery brand today means understanding how women actually live, not just how they dress. In this interview, Louise Thompson opens up about why she launched D. Louise, the lack of everyday-wear jewellery she saw in the market, and how designing with durability, inclusivity and real life in mind helped the brand resonate so quickly. It’s a conversation about creating products with purpose — and why jewellery no longer needs to be delicate to feel special.

Not your average mini fan — Dyson’s latest launch delivers high-performance airflow in a sleek, carry-anywhere design.

There are few things worse than being overheated on the move, especially the tube in peak summer. Commuting, travelling, sitting at your desk pretending you’re fine when you’re absolutely not. So when Dyson drops a portable cooling device, you know it’s going to be more than just your average mini fan.

Enter the HushJet Mini Cool Fan — Dyson’s first handheld, wearable fan designed to go wherever you do. And yes, it’s as sleek as you’d expect.

It’s incredibly lightweight (just over 200g), small enough to throw in your bag, and gives you up to six hours of cooling on a single charge. But the real story is in how powerful it is for its size. This tiny thing pushes air at speeds of up to 25m/s, which is kind of wild when you realise it fits in the palm of your hand.

There are five different airflow settings depending on what you need — a soft, barely-there breeze if you’re working or travelling, or a much stronger blast when you’re melting in the heat. There’s even a Boost mode for those immediate reliefmoments.

What Dyson does really well (and what makes this feel a bit more elevated than your typical Amazon fan) is the detail. It’s not just about power — it’s about how that airflow feels. The design of the nozzle has been engineered to smooth out turbulence and reduce that annoying high-pitched whirring you usually get with small fans. So instead of something harsh and noisy, it’s quieter, softer, and actually pleasant to use.

You can use it however suits your day too. Hold it, prop it up on your desk, or wear it hands-free with the neck attachment. There are also clips and mounts if you want to attach it to your bag, jacket, or even a pram, which feels very practical for summer days out.

And then, of course, there’s the aesthetic. Because this is Dyson.

It comes in three colourways — a deep blue Ink/Cobalt, a brighter Carnelian/Sky mix, and a softer Stone/Blush that feels very calm and minimal. It’s giving “tech you don’t mind being seen with”, which is exactly where things are heading.

There’s also a subtle design detail Dyson keeps coming back to — a 38mm engineering format they’ve used across other products like their hair tools and vacuums. It’s essentially their way of making things smaller and lighter without losing performance, and this fan follows that same idea.

It comes ready to use with a charging stand, USB-C cable and a travel pouch, and takes around three hours to fully charge. Price-wise, it sits at £99.99, so definitely on the premium end — but very in line with Dyson’s world.

Overall, it feels like one of those products you don’t realise you need until you have it. Equal parts practical and design-led, and actually useful in real life — not just something you buy for a heatwave and forget about.

Available from late April via Dyson.
