Meet Eyebrow Picasso, Beauty Method By Bethany (And See My New Eyebrows)
For those seeking that ideal balance between convenience and stunning results, ‘Beauty Method by Bethany‘ is a name you’ll want to remember. Nestled within the serene surroundings of Paollo Sagerah’s ‘The Courtyard,’ Bethany and her team have mastered the art of microblading, and have dramatically enhanced my facial structure in the process.
My brows had been, well, let’s say “not exactly on fleek.” I’d tried it all – razoring (desperate times), plucking, threading and waxing. Most recently, I’d only been plucking a stray hair here and there and filled them in with an eyebrow pencil. A quirky case of “eyebrows being sisters, not twins”, as they say. But, I craved more than nature had gifted me, and that’s where Bethany came in to arch the way to perfection.
I had always had a nonchalant disappointment over the shape of my eyebrows, which became apparent when I sat down with Bethany, but hadn’t really ever explored the options of a more permanent solution. In my recent selfies and photos, I had observed how strange one brow looked, as if half of it had been cut off. I never really understood this, but Bethany explained to me that it is because some of the hairs at the top were not as full as on the other brow, and so create this uneven illusion.
The first step in my microblading journey was mapping out the new terrain for my brows. Watching Bethany expertly wield her inky strings and an instrument that Captain Jack Sparrow might use to map the oceans, I couldn’t help but be impressed by the level of precision needed to ensure my brows would be perfectly even. Trust me; your eyebrow lady can shape your day faster than a pluck! Bethany’s professionalism sparked confidence, and she ensured I was content with the arch before beginning the procedure.
Initially, I wasn’t numbed, allowing Bethany to assess my dermal depth for precise pigment placement. It might sound a tad terrifying, but trust me – it was fine. I was briefed that it would feel like Velcro (which it did). It was a quick process to lay the initial strokes, which were a little uncomfortable. After these first strokes, you are numbed and I did not feel a thing. The numbing is also incredibly quick, so it doesn’t add extra lengthy time to your procedure.
After the initial strokes, I gazed in the mirror, awestruck by the new hairs I had miraculously gained. Bethany’s expert advice was to bring my brows forward for a fuller, bushier, and, may I say, “brow-geous” appearance. As the procedure continued, I marveled at the remarkable naturalness and delicacy of the strokes. They replicated real brow hairs seamlessly, to the point that Bethany had to double-check if my natural brows were real, or the newly created brush strokes.
One brow-raising concern anyone would have about permanent brow solutions is the fear of going from human to cartoon in one blade swipe. But I am here to dispel these concerns, but only when you go to the right brow artist. When I say that what I witnessed during the procedure left me anything but “drawn on”, (you just have to see the results to believe). The results were a testament to precision and artistry, providing a natural finish that completely transformed my facial structure. Bethany’s subtle adjustments, like lifting the arch, created an illusion that could make Elsa Hosk do a double take.
I can wholeheartedly say that I would, without a doubt recommend Bethany to anyone looking for a permanent eyebrow solution. Bethany performed my procedure with such professionalism, reassurance and personal touches. I felt so confident to be trusting her with my eyebrow journey. The results are miraculous, and a week later I am still marvelling at how my whole facial structure has been enhanced. I keep staring at my eyebrows in a mirror, and for the last few days, I have been without make up and I don’t feel naked due to my beautifully structured, feathery, natural, looking new brows.
I asked Bethany to provide some insight into the treatment, for those who are considering it, so they have a better idea what to expect.
I knew I could trust her, because she has great eyebrows…
Why is microblading such a great option for those wanting to enhance their eyebrows?
Microblading creates very fine, hair-like strokes that closely mimic natural eyebrow hairs, resulting in a natural and realistic appearance. It’s an ideal solution for those who want to fill in sparse brows and reshape them. It is also a great option with those suffering from alopecia, hair loss from cancer treatments, hair loss due to medication, age and/or other factors.
Microblading is versatile and can be tailored to suit each individual’s style and taste in terms of thickness, shape, current style and trends such as brow lamination/fluffy brows.
It is also time-saving and low maintenance, as it reduces the time and effort required for daily eyebrow makeup application, which is especially beneficial for people with busy lifestyles or those conscious of their lack of eyebrow hair who can’t achieve the desired effect with makeup.
The microblading appointment is relatively quick, taking roughly 1.5 – 2 hours and the eyebrows can last for 1 to 3 years, meaning you don’t need to worry about daily application.
What should people consider before getting microblading?
Before considering getting microblading, be aware that semi permanent make up (whether it’s for eyebrows, lips or eyeliner etc) is a two part treatment. After the initial treatment, the colour applied may appear darker and more intense than the final result, so be prepared that it will fade by 40-50% and shrink by 10% and the healed result will be much softer.
After the initial session, the brows go through a healing process where it is common to experience scabbing and the pigment may fade as the skin heals. That’s why the perfection visit at 6-8 weeks (once the skin has fully healed) is so important as we can enhance any pigment we may have lost during the healing process and make any amendments to shape and colour.
Consider suitability, as for example, those with oilier skin types won’t be suited to microblading so should opt for machine hair strokes or powder brows. It’s vital to have a consultation so you know the options available to you that will suit your desired style and your skin type.
Lastly, if you currently have old semi permanent makeup that you wish to correct, it sometimes is not possible to conceal it so laser removal may be the best option to ensure a good final result so that we can start fresh.
How long will microblading last?
Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic treatment, and the duration of the results can vary due to factors like skin type, aftercare and lifestyle. Although it is a form of tattoo, it doesn’t penetrate the skin as deeply as traditional tattoos so the pigment will gradually fade as your skin naturally exfoliates. Generally, microblading can last anywhere from 1 to 3 years.
Several factors can affect how long microblading lasts:
Skin Type: Oily skin tends to break down pigment faster, resulting in shorter-lasting results (oily skin type would be more suited to powder brows). Dry skin may retain pigment for a longer time.
Lifestyle: Lifestyle factors like exposure to chlorine, excessive sweating from the gym and sauna etc, and the use of certain skin-care products can impact the duration of microblading.
Aftercare: Proper aftercare is crucial for the longevity of microblading. Avoiding excessive sun exposure, not using harsh skin-care products on the brows, and following post-care instructions can help the results last longer.
To ensure the longevity of your microbladed brows, it’s recommended to schedule touch-up sessions every 12 to 18 months, to maintain the desired shape and colour.
