REGnosys and WISE Unite to Empower Women in Tech

REGnosys, the regulatory technology firm, has joined forces with WISE, UK leaders in STEM gender parity, as part of a new project to empower women tech leaders.

The collaboration aims to champion women role models in tech and inspire young women to pursue careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

With women making up only 24% of the STEM workforce, the lack of representation remains a pressing issue in the industry. Teenage girls often cite the absence of women role models and information about career opportunities as significant barriers to entering the field.

Research conducted by WISE underscores the impact of role models on female interest in STEM subjects:

  • The presence of role models nearly doubles the number of girls interested in STEM across Europe.
  • 41% of girls with role models express interest in STEM subjects, compared to 26% without.
  • Girls with role models exhibit a broader interest in all aspects of STEM, transcending the expertise of their mentors.

Despite progress, challenges persist, with 79% of women in tech reporting a gender pay gap, and a notable discrepancy in the exposure of girls and young women to tech careers compared to their male counterparts.

The partnership between WISE and REGnosys seeks to address these challenges head-on. By aligning with Wise’s mission of “Delivering Women-Centred Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Solutions for the STEM Sectors,” the collaboration aims to foster a more diverse and inclusive tech ecosystem.

Through joint efforts, REGnosys and WISE aspire to cultivate an environment where gender equality thrives, leading to innovation and progress within the tech industry.

Commenting on the partnership, REGnosys Chief Executive and Founder, Leo Labeis said:

“To address the issue of gender inequality from the ground up, it is imperative that we face the harsh realities of the situation and do what we can to promote the role models currently working in the sector. As a tech start-up, it can be challenging to compete with larger firms that offer the kinds of benefits that are crucial in attracting diverse workforce talent. We are delighted to have delivered on our pledge to boost women’s representation within our company, which now sits at 38%. By partnering with Wise, we will bolster and develop our long-term commitment to DEI in the workplace.”

Kirsty Carotti, Software Engineer at REGnosys / Vice-Chair of the WISE Young Professional Board said: “I am thrilled that REGnosys have decided to partner with WISE, as Vice-Chair of the WISE Young Professional’s Board I see the steps being taken towards gender parity in the workplace. I was lucky to have role models and the support to pursue my career aspirations, but I know not everyone is as fortunate. Through this partnership, we can help to champion women in the sector and raise awareness for the next generation.”
