Do You Want To Be The Next Andrea Sachs?
Vogue USA recently put out an advertisement for an assistant to none other than the Editor-In-Chief of US Vogue, ‘Iron Women’ Anna Wintour. The listing has sparked controversy, with multiple news outlets offering suggestions on what the listing does *not* list, but what applicants would absolutely be expected to do.
For those of you who are not aware, the 2007 film The Devil Wears Prada film was adapted from a book written by Anna Wintour’s former assistant of 10 months, Lauren Weisberger. The film follows Andrea, a budding journalist (relatable) who manages to secure the coveted role as Anna Wintour’s assistant (played by Meryl Streep). Throughout the film, the viewer is given insight into the life as the EIC’s assistant, in which she is given the most ridiculous tasks like taking her dogs to the groomers, organising a private flight in a storm, remembering her lengthy coffee order.
The advertisement for Anna Wintour’s assistant has gone viral, with many questioning how many assistants the EIC has gone through, and if they might have to pick up her ginormous dogs and have her coffee on her desk, at the perfect temperature, with the correct milk for the exact time she walks into her office.
